Basic and Important features of HDPE Liner
Some of the very important as well as basic characteristic features of High Density Polyethylene pipeliners are:

1. Permeability is low: Leachets are not able to penetrate the pipelining system of polyethylene of high density. This makes the system safe and secure. Thus, on one hand, it does not allow methane gas to escape the pipe and on the other, does not allow rainwater to seep into the HDPE liner.

2. Resistance to chemicals: The linings constructed out of high density polyethylene are highly resistant to chemicals and thus it is not threatened by any sort of leachate of hazardous waste or solid. Thus, these linings are most suitable for seconday containment of storage facilities for chemicals and sludge.

3. Increased resistance to ultraviolet: If carbon black is added then the UV exposure resistance increases manifold. Volatilization of the material is not at all a problem as the plasticizers are absent.

4. Reflectivity as a factor: Geomembranes of HDPE are available in both black and white. The white surface helps in visual inspection and also in mitigating the temperature extremes of pipe liner.

Usage of HDPE liner in Various Applications
There are many applications where these liners are used and some of them are landfill closures / caps, liners of lagoon, primary as well as secondary containment landfill, liners of pond as well as agricultural ponds, reservoirs of portable water, canal linings, tank linings, retention pond and many more.
